Purple Haze

Purple Haze is a rock climbing area located near Grand Junction on the Western Slope of Colorado. The site sits at an elevation of 5,164 feet and offers routes classified as difficult, making it suitable for experienced climbers. The area is accessible year-round, with operations running from January through December. Climbers can expect an outing duration of approximately four hours. On-site parking is available, and the site permits pets. The surrounding Grand Junction area features jaggy red rocks, exposed cliff faces, and technical boulders composed of granite canyon walls and sandstone blocks. Spring and fall provide mild temperatures, while summer heat may require early morning climbs or shaded routes. Winter climbing is possible on sunny days at lower elevations, though climbers should avoid sandstone surfaces after rain or snow to prevent damage and ensure safety.
