Ring Dike Trail

The Ring Dike Trail is a short, difficult hiking and biking route located within the Hartman Rocks area near Gunnison, Colorado. The trail spans 1.4 miles and reaches an elevation of approximately 8,285 feet. It is managed by the BLM Gunnison Field Office and features a dirt surface with slickrock sections. The elevation gain is modest, ranging from 8,060 to 8,215 feet, but the terrain is technical. The trail begins near Road 3525G, adjacent to Josho's and Rattlesnake trails. The initial section involves a steep downhill on slickrock, followed by winding uphill and downhill segments. Some parts of the trail are loose and show signs of motorcycle traffic. Route finding can be challenging across slickrock areas, though cairns help mark the path. The trail is accessible in both directions and allows hiking, biking, horseback riding, and motorcycles. Dogs are permitted on the trail. Parking is available at the trailhead. The trail is generally open year-round, with typical usage from April to October depending on weather conditions.
