About

Ruckus is a sport climbing sector within Rifle Mountain Park, located near Rifle on Colorado's Western Slope. The area features limestone routes from the Leadville formation, characterized by overhanging to steep terrain on large, flat holds, pockets, and crimps. The specific Ruckus route is a short sport line situated to the left of Never Believe, featuring an overhanging right-facing dihedral and a crux move requiring good footwork. It is protected by five bolts with a two-bolt anchor. The site has a difficult rating, catering primarily to experienced climbers, though some moderate 5.11 routes exist nearby. Elevation sits at approximately 7,363 feet. Parking is available on-site, and pets are permitted. The climbing area remains accessible year-round, with peak activity occurring from May through September. Visitors should note that older routes may exhibit a 'grease factor' due to constant traffic, and lower-angled rock can accumulate silt or moss. The Rifle Climbers' Coalition manages climbing-related issues in the park.
