About
The Sale Barn Trailhead serves as the access point for the Sale Barn Trail, a 1.8-mile loop within the Grandview Ridge Trail System near Durango, Colorado. The trail is classified as moderate and is designed for multi-use, accommodating hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners. The route climbs from the parking lot, crosses a feature resembling an old dam, and switchbacks up a cliff face to reach the mesa top. The trail has been rerouted and shortened to accommodate nearby gravel pit expansion. Parking is available at the Carbon Junction frontage road. Restrooms are present at the trailhead, though water is not available. The trail is open year-round but is subject to winter wildlife closures, typically from December 1 to April 15 or 30. Dogs must be leashed. The trail connects to the South Rim, Big Canyon, and Cowboy trails.
