Santa Claus Pillar is a rock climbing destination located near Silverton, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The site sits at an elevation of 8,578 feet and is accessible year-round from January to December. The climb is classified as moderate difficulty and typically requires approximately four hours to complete. Accessible directly from Highway 110, the pillar is visible just a couple of miles west of Silverton. Climbers park at a pullout on the west side of the road and hike or ski up the drainage to reach the base. The route consists of two pitches totaling 230 feet (70 meters). The first pitch involves climbing a snow and ice ramp to the base of the cone. The second pitch ascends the vertical pillar to the top, with belaying available from trees on the left. Protection is provided by screws. The area offers parking and allows pets, making it a convenient option for climbers with vehicles and companions.
