About
SE Flat Tops Area is a dispersed camping zone in White River National Forest, located above Glenwood Springs on the Western Slope. The site sits at 10,122 feet elevation within a forested landscape adjacent to the Colorado River. Campers select their own sites along Forest Service roads, which can be unpaved and rocky. A 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle is recommended for accessing deeper sites, though some lower areas accommodate two-wheel-drive vehicles. There are no electrical or plumbing hookups and no on-site plumbing facilities, though potable water and toilet facilities are available nearby. Cell service is generally unavailable within the camping area, returning approximately one mile down the mountain. The terrain is moderate, with typical exploration times around two hours. Access is open from May through September. Pets are permitted, and alcohol consumption is allowed on site.
