Second Gully is a rock and ice climbing destination located near Silverton, Colorado, on the Western Slope. Situated at an elevation of 7492 feet, it is one of the classic ice climbs in the Eureka area. The route offers approximately 800 feet of stepped ice and is rated as moderate in difficulty, typically requiring about eight hours to complete. It is generally considered suitable for climbers with some experience, particularly those capable of leading in the grade. The approach from the parking lot is approximately half a mile and is usually well-packed, making snowshoes or skis optional depending on conditions. The climb features multiple fixed v-threads, though climbers should inspect them in the spring as nylon lines can degrade. Descent is typically made by walking off to the right at about three-quarters of the height, leading down snow-filled gullies toward the base of Goldrush. The area is accessible year-round, from January to December. Parking is available, and pets are allowed.
