The Shavano Loop is a 3-mile doubletrack mountain biking trail located in Montrose, Colorado. Situated at an elevation of 6,449 feet, the route serves as a connector within the Electric Hills trail system and provides access to the Tabeguache Trail network. The trail undulates gently through the valley, making it suitable for riders of all skill levels. It typically takes about one hour to complete. The trailhead is located approximately 9 miles from downtown Montrose near No Thoroughfare Canyon. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are allowed on the route. The area is accessible from April through October, with specific closures for the Electric Hills trail system and roads occurring between December 1 and April 15. The Shavano Gateway Recreation Area, which serves as the trailhead for the Rimrocker Trail and local mountain biking, offers improved parking, staging areas, restrooms, and shade structures. The trail is part of a larger network that extends over 140 miles, serving as the southern anchor for the Tabeguache Trail. Riders can connect the Shavano Loop to various singletrack trails or use it to add mileage to their ride. The trail surface is described as smooth and gentle, with a steady incline in connecting routes.
