Silt Island Park is a thirty-acre area on the Western Slope of Colorado, located in Silt at an elevation of 5,436 feet. The park sits along the Colorado River and offers moderate hiking trails suitable for a typical two-hour outing. The landscape features riparian zones mixed with scrubby desert terrain, presenting hikers with uneven, rocky, and sandy ground conditions. The primary season for hiking here is September through November, when temperatures are generally comfortable and crowds remain minimal. Access is straightforward with parking available at the trailhead, and restrooms are provided for visitors. The park allows pets on the trails. While the area supports ice climbing in winter and serves as a launch point for river paddling, these are secondary activities. The town maintains five miles of trails in the broader Silt area, but Silt Island Park itself is a distinct destination for moderate-level hikers seeking riverside scenery without significant elevation gain.
