Harvey Gap State Park in Silt, Colorado, is a day-use area situated at 6,421 feet elevation. The park centers on the 160-acre Grass Valley Reservoir, surrounded by cedar and sagebrush habitat. The Grand Hogback ridge runs along the south end of the reservoir, providing a distinct landscape feature. Hiking here is moderate and typically takes about two hours. The terrain consists of hills and valleys with dry, rocky trail conditions in the fall. While Harvey Gap itself does not have a formal designated trail system, visitors walk and explore the natural surroundings. Nearby Rifle Falls State Park offers more structured hiking loops. The park is accessible from I-70 via the Silt exit, following signs to Harvey Gap Road. Parking is available at the entrance. Restrooms are located in the visitor center at nearby Rifle Gap State Park, which also serves Harvey Gap. The park is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Seasonal access for fall hiking runs from September through November. Pets are generally permitted in the park, though specific policies may vary. The area is known for clean water and shaded picnic sites.
