About

The Silver Lake Trail is a short, difficult hike located near Telluride, Colorado, in the Uncompahgre National Forest. The trailhead begins at a creek crossing on the Bridal Veil Trail, approximately a half-mile above the power plant. The route ascends steep, loose, and rocky terrain, with some sections requiring scrambling and slick rock navigation. The ascent is rigorous, particularly in the first half of the hike. The destination is a blue alpine lake surrounded by peaks. Conditions can include icy or snowy ground, especially from January through April, and the initial creek crossing may be tricky in early summer. Parking is available at the trailhead.
