About

Crack of Mind is a single-pitch trad climbing route in Cracked Canyon, near Telluride, Colorado. The climb is rated 5.8 and measures approximately 80 feet in length. It features a clean, six-inch splitter crack that runs vertically up the rock face. The route sits just to the left of the well-known Chewbacca route. Climbers use traditional gear, specifically cams and nuts (stoppers), with larger #4 to #5 Camalots fitting the main crack. Smaller gear fits into secondary cracks within the line. The climb is considered moderate, offering technical hand and finger jamming without requiring offwidth brute force. Approach involves a trek through mixed forest and scree to the base, with GPS waypoints available for navigation. Parking is available near the area. The site allows pets. Morning starts are recommended to avoid afternoon thunderstorms common in the high country of Western Colorado.
