Smoking Gun is a single-pitch sport climb located within Rifle Mountain Park, a city-owned limestone climbing area near Rifle, Colorado. The route serves as an escape route from the center of Ruckman Cave, punching out a body-length roof to climb a tan headwall. It is rated 5.12 and described as strenuous, featuring great rock quality despite some grease on older holds. The climb is done as one continuous pitch, ending at anchors approximately 50 feet above the cave lip in a small depression. Access requires a daily or season entry pass for Rifle Mountain Park, and parking is available in designated areas. The area is open year-round, though it is fairly crowded on weekends from May through September. Pets are allowed.
