About

Sometimes Always is a 130-foot sport climb located in Rifle Mountain Park, near Rifle, Colorado. The route sits on the Project Wall, characterized by overhanging limestone and a steep headwall. It is rated 5.13c and is noted for its length, offering a continuous, rope-stretching ascent that tests forearm endurance. The climb begins on a dirty bench or ledge just right of the route 'Living in Fear,' requiring a boulder move to a high clip before ascending the overhanging wall. The route features a crux stemming corner high in the climb, which can be avoided by moving slightly right. The position is described as wild, overlooking a narrow sector of the canyon approximately 180 feet below the road. Climbers should carry 20 quickdraws and a 70-meter rope. Parking is available on-site, and the area is pet-friendly. The route was first ascended by Jim Surette.
