About
South Canyon Hot Springs is a primitive, free natural hot spring located just west of Glenwood Springs in the Roaring Fork Valley. The site consists of one or two undeveloped rock pools situated on a hillside overlooking the Colorado River. Water temperatures typically range from 100 to 112 degrees Fahrenheit. The hike from the parking area is short, covering approximately 0.2 to 0.5 miles over a well-worn dirt path that leads down to the springs. The trailhead is accessible via Exit 111 off Interstate 70, with a small dirt parking lot available on the right side of South Canyon Creek Road. The site is open year-round and is clothing optional. There are no facilities, such as restrooms or trash bins, and the area can feel crowded during peak hours. Visitors should bring their own towels and water, and avoid glass containers.
