Spanking the Monkey is a 50-foot trad climbing route located in Durango, Colorado, near Dry Fork Cliff. The climb is rated 5.10+ in the Yosemite Decimal System and is considered difficult. It features a sequence starting with 15 feet of bulging thin hands, leading to an overhanging hand crack that transitions into a finger crack. The route finishes on sloping holds at a bolted anchor. Parking is available, and the site allows pets. A wildlife closure restricts access from December 1 to April 15. The route was first ascended by Kossin and Giovaniello in 1990.
