Sucking Wind is a classic trad climbing route located on the Fountain Buttress in Glenwood Canyon, near Glenwood Springs. It is situated on a steep granite face and is known for quality, clean climbing. The route is most frequently climbed as a single long pitch or two pitches, bypassing the original four-pitch start. The popular variation begins with easy 3rd class scrambling to a ledge below the north face, then traverses right on good face holds before moving up and left. The climbing involves finger jams, small hands, and a small roof, leading to a two-bolt anchor. From the anchor, climbers can take a seldom-used fourth pitch or rappel approximately 180 feet to the ground. The route is accessible year-round, has parking available, and is pet-friendly. The elevation is 6,851 feet.
