The Sunnyside, Radio Tower trail is a 4.8-mile out-and-back hike located in Aspen, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The route climbs the face of Red Mountain, starting near the Rio Grande Trail and McLain Flats Road. The trailhead features a parking lot for approximately 10 vehicles. Hikers ascend via long, steady switchbacks, transitioning from slight Aspen tree cover at the start to low brush and open terrain. The hike is classified as difficult due to the steep grade and elevation gain, with the most demanding section occurring between the trailhead and the radio tower. The trail is well-signed. Shade is limited, exposing hikers to sun and heat. Conditions can include snow and ice from January to March. The total distance is 4.8 miles, typically taking about 3 hours to complete.
