About
Swimming Upstream is a short, 20-foot sport climb located in the Puoux limestone crag near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The route is bolted tightly, with bolts spaced approximately every four feet, and features its most technical section immediately off the ground. This structure makes it suitable for beginners learning to lead. The climb includes a second, lower-angle slab section rated as 3rd class and extending about 25 feet. Access is to private property within the Defiance Cave Preserve, requiring climbers to download, complete, and submit a waiver to the property manager, Ken Headrick, via email. Parking is available on-site. The area is pet-friendly and accessible year-round, from January through December.
