About

Tao-yin is a 100-foot sport climbing route located in the Palisade area of Western Colorado, specifically associated with the Cameron Peak Fire zone near Storm Mountain. The route features bulletproof rock and is characterized by power endurance climbing. The climb begins with a scramble to a high first bolt situated on a curving, thin crack. Climbers ascend the crack to a large ledge, clip the next bolt, and then unclip the previous one before turning a corner. The technical highlight is an undercling crux requiring precise footwork, followed by power liebacking, crack climbing, and face climbing that gradually eases to the anchors. The route is equipped with 12 bolts and includes a two-bolt direct start option. Access is currently open, having reopened in 2023, though climbers should note that signage may be sparse and the area is accessed via Storm Mountain Road. Parking is available, and pets are permitted. The route is rated difficult.
