Tappan Creek - Allerton Draw, known locally as Shane's Trail, is a difficult mountain biking route located near Montrose, Colorado. The trail spans 3.9 miles and typically takes about one hour to complete. Riders begin at an elevation of approximately 5,807 feet. The terrain features multiple rock drops and sandy sections that favor bikes with greater travel suspension. The route includes a few steep hike-a-bike segments requiring riders to dismount and push their bikes. Private land surrounds the trail, so following GPS lines is necessary to avoid trespassing. Riders can link Tappan Creek with Allerton Draw, a creekbed ride accessible in either direction, by following connecting roads. The trail is generally open from April through October. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are permitted on the route.
