About

The Terminator, also known as the Dike Wall, is a rock climbing area in Ridgway, Colorado, located just south of town on U.S. 550. The feature is a vertical basalt dike cutting through Entrada and Cutler sandstone layers. Climbers access the crag via a rough BLM road off the highway, with parking available nearby. The site offers moderate climbing routes, primarily sport climbs, ranging from 30 feet to roughly 1,400 feet in length. The geology creates distinct climbing conditions: the main cliffs face east and receive morning sun, while other sections remain cool and shady even in mid-summer. Intermittent drainages have scoured the uphill side, creating taller cliffs and a convenient belay gully with a dedicated TR belay bolt. The area is known for loose holds, requiring climbers to test features and wear helmets. Historical top-roping and bolting disputes from the 1980s have left a mix of established lines. The climbing season is described as year-round, with no specific off-season limitations noted for the general area. Pets are allowed, and the site is pet-friendly. Elevation data varies slightly between sources, cited at 7,100 feet on mapping platforms and 7,815 feet in facility records.
