About

The Crossing is a sport climbing route in Rifle Mountain Park, located near Rifle, Colorado. The route features steep roof climbing above a ledge on good limestone stone. It is approximately 70 feet long and rated difficult. The climb requires 11 bolts for protection. A key feature is a deep cross move at the crux, which gives the route its name. Climbers can scramble up a less-than-ideal ledge to reach the start. The route shares its last bolt and anchor with 'All The Pretty Horses'. It is located to the right of that neighboring route. Rifle Mountain Park offers some of the best limestone sport climbing in North America, with many routes graded 5.12 and higher. The area is fairly crowded on weekends from May through September. Parking is available at designated areas, and visitors must purchase a daily or season pass. The climbing center in downtown Rifle is 30 minutes away and provides indoor training, showers, and gear. The Crossing was established in 2023.
