About
The Eighth Day, also known as MC 900 FT Jesus, is a sport climbing route located at Project Wall in Rifle Mountain Park. Situated approximately two miles up the canyon on the right side, this crag is directly adjacent to the road. The route ascends a 50-meter pitch on the far right side of the wall, characterized by blue and grey water streaks. The climb is rated 5.13a and features a direct line to the top of the cliff. The route begins with bolted left starts that converge with another route named TED at the base of a gray section. The ascent includes an arete crux rated 12+ at thirty meters, followed by fifty meters of 12- edging. A V5 pocket and crimper traverse occurs around one hundred meters, leading to a large rest before more 11 edging and a final 12- crux near the top. Parking is available in small pull-outs below or downstream, with room for three cars. The area is pet-friendly, though dogs should be kept leashed due to road traffic. Climbers can expect moderate crowding from warm-up routes, but the accessibility and quality of the sport climbing make it a notable destination on the Western Slope.
