About
Up Dog is a 2.0-mile intermediate mountain biking trail located in the North Fruita Desert near Fruita, Colorado. The route begins just west of the junction between MoJoe and Kessel Run on the 18 Road trail system. It serves as a climbing connector, running parallel to Joe’s Ridge and MoJoe before ending at Frontside. This positioning helps disperse traffic away from the busier 18 Road corridor. The trail sits at an elevation of approximately 4,514 to 5,446 feet. Riders typically complete the loop in about one hour, though some sources estimate a faster 20 to 30 minutes depending on pace. The surface is described as ground-level singletrack with rocks and ledges, offering a moderate challenge suitable for riders with some experience. Up Dog is accessible from April through October. Parking is available near the trailhead, and dogs are permitted on the route. The trail connects to other local routes such as Zippity, allowing for extended loops within the Fruita network.
