Upper Transfer Trail

The Upper Transfer Trail is a 1.4-mile moderate hiking route located in Glenwood Springs, Western Colorado. The trailhead is accessible via N Traver Trail Road, with a gravel road leading to an upper parking lot suitable for passenger cars when dry. The hike begins on relatively flat terrain, passing through an old rock pit and past an unlocked gate. At 0.75 miles, a doubletrack connects to the south side of the parking lot. The final half mile features steep switchbacks ascending toward Windy Point. The trail offers views of the White River National Forest, including meadows with wildflowers and forests of spruce, fir, pine, and aspen. Distant views include the Elk Mountains to the south and No Name Creek. The trail is open year-round, though winter conditions may include snow and ice. Parking is available at the upper lot.
