About

Upper Upper Sidewinder is a short, moderate singletrack mountain biking trail located in the Rifle area on the Western Slope. The route spans approximately 0.8 miles and sits at an elevation of 5,798 feet. It is classified as a blue difficulty trail and is typically open from April through October. The trailhead is accessed from a BLM lot by driving southwest down a gravel road for about a quarter mile. From there, riders locate a moto play area and climb the gas pipeline road, which heads straight up the hill veering slightly southwest. After the climb, the trail begins near a dispersed campsite. The route flows along above the adjacent Upper Sidewinder trail before descending back toward Paul's Trail. Riders encounter fast corners and juniper stands, with one notable section featuring a steep, loose dirt switchback climb. The trail is usable in both directions and allows dogs. Parking is available near the trailhead.
