About

Vai is a sport climbing route located on the Right G3 Wall in Rifle Mountain Park, Rifle, Colorado. The route is 80 feet long and features a difficult boulder problem start that leads to 5.10 climbing on the upper headwall. The climb begins below a leaning dihedral or arete, requiring powerful liebacking up a leaning corner. Climbers move right along the arete to a long reach for a jug, then mantle onto a ledge for a rest at the third bolt. The climbing eases to mid-5.10 grades, involving a rising rightward traverse across a panel before returning left to another ledge. A short bulge leads to a diagonal crack, followed by juggy bolts to the chains. The route is protected by 12 bolts and two bolt anchors, with fixed biners currently in place. It is situated immediately to the right of the route Malmsteen. Access requires a daily or season entry pass, and parking is available in designated areas. The area is pet-friendly.
