About
Ward Lake Campground sits on the Grand Mesa near Cedaredge at an elevation of approximately 10,130 to 10,300 feet. The site contains 27 campsites located along the shores of Ward Lake, surrounded by spruce and fir trees. Sites vary from open, unmarked spur roads directly on the shore to shaded, secluded areas tucked back from the water. The campground is accessible via Forest Road 121, turning right from State Route 65. Access is first-come, first-served; visitors must arrive physically to claim a site. Amenities include clean vault toilets and water spigots, though current conditions may indicate no water is available. The area is known for fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the lake. Mosquitoes are common, so repellent is recommended. The site is pet-friendly and offers a rustic experience without hookups.
