The Warner Point Nature Trail is a 1.6-mile out-and-back route located in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park near Crawford and Montrose, Colorado. The trail is generally considered moderate due to rolling terrain with an elevation change of approximately 300 to 400 feet. It typically takes between 55 minutes and two hours to complete, depending on stops at scenic viewpoints. The path follows a crushed granite surface that can be slick near the end, leading hikers through pinyon pine and juniper forests shaded by mountain mahogany and serviceberry. At the summit, Warner Point offers views of the San Juan Mountain Range, West Elk Mountains, Uncompahgre Valley, and the Gunnison River within the canyon. Benches are placed along the route for rest, and interpretive signs provide a self-guided tour. Parking is available at the trailhead. While some sources list the trail as pet-friendly, AllTrails notes that dogs are not allowed in this specific section of the National Park. The best time to visit is from May through October, with September through November offering clear fall conditions.
