Watchtower is a difficult mountain biking trail located in the Grand Hogback Trails network near Rifle, Colorado. The trailhead is situated off State Highway 13. The route features machine-built flow through desert terrain with unique geology, including prominent rock formations that give the trail its name. The ride begins with fast sections and doubles, leading to a skinny section before dropping into a rocky roll among junipers. The trail continues through a fast, swoopy valley floor with multiple lines through rocks and boulders, finishing in a sage meadow with small features like tables, hips, and berms. The elevation gain is 1,852 feet, reaching a summit of 5,347 feet. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are allowed. The trail is typically open from April through October, with a winter closure period from December 1 to April 15. Access is via the Grand Hogback Trails trail network.
