About
West Face Middle, also called the Black Canyon Simulator, is a boulder climbing route in the Airy Block near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The route is located at GPS coordinates 39.59607, -107.55624. It features a sit start on the far right side of an undercut face, followed by a traverse that finishes with a large jug and a topout. The climb is classified as difficult. Protection consists of pads. The Airy Block is accessible directly from Interstate 70. Travel westbound on I-70 from the Hanging Lake exit. About 2 miles from the exit, near mile marker 123, look for a break in the concrete traffic barrier on the right side of the interstate. The Airy Block pullout is approximately 1/4 mile further. Park out of the way of no parking signs. The area is known for easy access and is suitable for quick climbing sessions. Parking is available. The route is pet friendly.
