Williams Creek Campground

Williams Creek Campground is a developed US Forest Service facility located 23 miles north of Pagosa Springs in the San Juan National Forest. Situated at 8,135 feet, the campground features 61 sites, including creekside locations along the eastern edge where Williams Creek flows. The setting includes cedar, aspen, and ponderosa pine trees, with options for both shaded and sunny exposure. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water, and firewood (purchased from the camp host). Some sites offer water and sewer hookups, and the campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet in length. Horse and pack animals are not permitted. The site is accessible via Forest Service roads, which can be washboard and require caution in wet conditions. Reservations are recommended for summer weekends, as the site often fills. Recreation opportunities include fishing in Williams Creek and the nearby Williams Reservoir (1 mile away), kayaking, and hiking. The campground serves as a trailhead for the Williams Creek Trail, which connects to the Weminuche Wilderness and the Continental Divide Trail. Seasonal operations typically run from May through September. Fire restrictions may apply; a Stage II Fire Prohibition was noted as of July 2026.
