About

Youth Warm-up is a sport climbing route located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The climb is situated at an elevation of 6,664 feet and is classified as difficult. The route extends approximately 70 feet (21 meters) and features steep, slightly less than vertical terrain with a mix of face climbing and overhanging sections. Climbers navigate past initial bolts on 5.9 terrain before reaching a horizontal break and subsequent bulges secured by big holds. The upper portion of the route includes quality face climbing leading to a first set of three anchors, with the complete line extending to 5.12c grades at upper anchors. Access requires a waiver for the Puoux climbing area, which lies within the Defiance Cave Preserve. Climbers must download and submit a waiver to property manager Ken Headrick via email before climbing. There is no need to schedule specific times or days for waiver submission, and the landowner has stated that trespassing tickets are not issued for compliant climbers. Rock chipping is prohibited; holds must be used as placed. Parking is available at the site. The route is accessible year-round, from January through December, though conditions vary by season. Pets are permitted on the climb. The location is near other climbing facilities in Glenwood Springs, including indoor gyms at the Community Center and Colorado Mountain College, but Youth Warm-up offers a distinct outdoor sport climbing experience. First ascent was made by Jeff Achey.
