5th Wheel is a 5.9+ YDS sport, 40 ft (12 m) located in Durango > RV Wall. First ascent by Ian Altman, Kyle Allinger, 2016. Climb a short, overhanging wall passing 4 bolts. This is more pumpy than technical. Protection: It is on the climber's far left side of the cliff.
The Animas River through Durango is a Gold Medal water offering excellent fishing for brown and rainbow trout in both urban and wilderness settings. The river features multiple public access points through town and the Animas River Trail, making it exceptionally accessible. The sections north of town hold wild brown trout in challenging pocket water, while the tailwater section below Durango offers more consistent conditions and the potential for larger fish.
Catch & Release is a 5.11 YDS sport, 45 ft (14 m) located in Durango > Vallecito Crags > Lakeview. First ascent by Andy Fuller, Eric Dixon. Steep, fun climbing leads up and right past the first 4 bolts, pull the crux bulge from bolts 4 to 5 on some crimps and sidepulls, then finish on easier climbing to the chains. This is a good route. Protection: It is the next route left of Rowing Against the Wind.

The Durango Botanic Gardens (DBG), located just off the River Trail, surrounding the Durango Public Library is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. Bring a picnic, sit on the grass, listen to the river, wander the paths and enjoy the ambiance of a Botanic Garden. The Gardens are open 24/7 and are FREE! An interesting fact, DBG has the largest collection of art in one place in Durango. Say Hi to our Docents working in the gardens on Saturday morning or ask a question of our Docent on Duty. Individual and group tours are available by calling 970-880-4841. We will ask that you abide by the current CDC regulations. If you are considering moving to Durango, our organization can help you grow your garden. Due to our altitude, dry climate and freezing temperatures in the winter, Durango is a very challenging place to maintain a garden. As a Botanic Garden, education is foremost in our mission so you will learn the names of plants and flowers as you stroll the garden. We are also a test garden for Plant Select, so you know that what you see growing in this garden, will also grow in your home garden. The Durango Botanic Gardens are an all-volunteer, non-profit that exists solely on memberships, donations and grants. If you enjoy the gardens, be sure to let us know by putting a small donation in our Garden Totem located along the trail. See you in the Gardens!!
