Air Arete is a 5.10 YDS X rock climbing located in Telluride/Norwo > Ophir > Cracked Canyon. First ascent by John Long (TR). This route is located on the right side of the canyon about 150 feet from the mouth. It shares anchors with Pirouette and is probably best done as a TR after climbing this route. Follow the obvious arete to the right of the smooth slab with the splitter finger crack. Protection: There is none....
Ame's Way is a 5.7 YDS sport, 270 ft (82 m), 3 pitches located in Telluride/Norwo > Pipeline Wall. This is a 3-pitch route. First ascent by Bruce Eriksen, 2001. Start up the low-angle face past seven bolts to a chain anchor. Repeat two more times to the top and then do three 30 meter raps back down the way you came. A good cruiser that is thoughtfully bolted. Couldn't find a definite crux. Any two of the pitches can be easily combined. Protection: This is the 11th route down the Pipeline Wall. Look for a large pine tree up on a ledge. The route is just to the right of the tree.
Attica is a 5.9 YDS trad located in Telluride/Norwo > Ophir > Cracked Canyon. First ascent by Jim Sweeney, Royal Robbins, 1979. Climb up the right-facing dihedral until you reach an overhang, where you climb left and up through to a ramp. Follow the ramp up to the top. It is balancy and very fun! Protection: This is a large, right-facing corner 80' downhill from Dog Leg.
Bert's Butt is a V6 YDS 7A Font boulder, 14 ft (4 m) located in Telluride/Norwo > Telluride Bould > Ilium Boulders > Premier. First ascent by Bert Perry. Start crouched with hands matched on the lowest undercling. Establish feet on the wall and bump to the next undercling. Match and make a difficult move (or series of moves) to get to the obvious, chalked jug. From the jug, move up and left to another large jug/shelf and then upwards to an easy top out. It's hard to say what the crux move is. It seems different for different people. No matter what, it's a lot of powerful moves in a row. The move to the second good shelf can be a bit of a heartbreaker, especially on the flash burn, since it's not as straightforward as it seems. I won't spoil the fun of figuring it out! Protection: This is located in the middle of the overhang on the west face of the boulder. Begin on the underclings deep in the back of the overhang.
Big Boy is a 5.8 YDS sport, 35 ft (11 m) located in Telluride/Norwo > Clay Creek Crag. First ascent by Chris Boscoff and Charlie Fowler. Climb the arete with the bolts to the left. Also, you can climb up to the left of the bolt line for a couple bolts before moving to the arete. It is a little runout to the anchors, but it is on easier rock. Protection: This is the next route to the right of Dr. Evil.
Blackbeard’s Gold is a 5.8 YDS sport, 35 ft (11 m) located in Telluride/Norwo > Pipeline Wall. First ascent by Chris Dickson, July 2020. This route begins with a tricky start then climbs past 4 bolts and nice pockets to a chain anchor. It is (currently) the rightmost route on “The Black Pearl”, a sub-wall of Pipeline featuring short routes with “new school” bolting. These routes serve as good warm-ups or first leads for the novice leader. *** This route, along with the others on The Black Pearl are usually wet in the early summer. Depending on snow melt, they are usually dry and cleaned up by July. *** Protection: The fourth route from the left, this climb begins on calcite jugs.
Bones is a 5.8 YDS trad, 70 ft (21 m) located in Telluride/Norwo > Ophir > Cracked Canyon. First ascent by Jim Gribib, Dan Langmade. The crux is the first 30 feet in the hand crack. It is strenuous. There is another cruxy move at the top. Protection: This is a handcrack 10 feet left of first large chimney on the right side of the canyon. Previously you would rap from the tree up and left of top, left of Attica's corner. Per Chris Dickson: this route starts as a handcrack, to the right of Attica's corner, on the right-side of the canyon. The Attica, Bones, Roller Skates alcove is a great belay hang, and all 3 routes now feature bolted anchors.

GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum singer and songwriter Gavin DeGraw’s inimitable voice and soulful style boldly bloomed on his 2003 platinum-certified full-length debut, Chariot. It included the gold single “Follow Through,” as well as both platinum hits, “Chariot,” and “I Don’t Want To Be.” In 2008, his self-titled second album, Gavin DeGraw, bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 powered by the platinum-selling single “In Love With a Girl.” 2011’s gold-certified Sweeter saw him return to the Top 10 as the single “Not Over You” went four times platinum. Meanwhile, his 2013 duet with Colbie Caillat, “We Both Know,” garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Song Written For Visual Media” for Safe Haven. He’s the rare talent who could seamlessly share the stage with Billy Joel and The Allman Brothers or Maroon 5 and Shania Twain. In 2016, Something Worth Saving incited widespread critical applause from USA Today, Billboard, Entertainment Tonight, and Huffington Post. With a front row seat to this wonderfully wild life led by his late parents Lynne and John Wayne, Gavin DeGraw recounts his most meaningful memories and valuable lessons on his seventh full-length offering, Face The River [RCA Records]. Now, he stitches together a timeless tale of his own soundtracked by a signature fusion of pop, soul, country, folk and funk.
Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, Guys and Dolls ran for 1,200 performances when it opened on Broadway in 1950. It received nearly unanimous positive reviews from critics and won a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks and Oliviers. Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. Some music cannot be found on a map or within iTunes categories. Some music is so original it seems snatched from the great, invisible substrata that runs below all human activity, a sound aching to be born without a flag or fixed allegiance – free, questing, overflowing with immediate, tangible life. This is the music of Toubab Krewe, the vibrant Asheville, NC-based instrumental powerhouse that creates a sonic Pangaea that lustily swirls together rock, African traditions, jam sensibilities, international folk strains and more. While nearly impossible to put into any box, it takes only a few moments to realize in a very palpable way that one is face-to-face with a true original who recognizes no borders in a march towards a muscular, original, globally switched-on sound. Formed in 2005, Toubab Krewe has tenaciously honed their craft through relentless touring and a fierce dedication to carving out something they can truly call their own. The fruits of this hard work can be heard on their latest release, STYLO, (March 2nd, 2018). What Justin Perkins (kora, kamelngoni, guitar, percussion), Terrence Houston (drumset), Drew Heller (guitar, organ), Justin Kimmel (bass, keys), and Luke Quaranta (djembe, dunun, sangban, kenkeni, kryn, karenye) have wrought on STYLO reflects the many miles and musical journeys that have transpired since their last studio album, TK2. This is a band that actively draws inspiration from whatever source floats into their purview, something they've exhibited in their decade and a half of heavy gigging, including regular appearances at major U.S. festivals like Bonnaroo, High Sierra, Electric Forest, Wakarusa, Hulaween, and abroad at such legendary gatherings as the Festival In The Desert in Essakane, Mali, Shanghai World Music Festival, and Jam Cruise. Whether on their own or collaborating with luminaries like the Last Poets' Umar Bin Hassan, Uncle Earl's Rayna Gellert, or Weedie Braimah, Toubab Krewe has already earned the attention and respect of a broad musical community. Toubab carries echoes of African greats like Ali Farka Toure, Orchestra Baobab and Salif Keita, no doubt picked up during the group's travels to study and live in Guinea, Ivory Coast and Mali. But what truly differentiates Toubab Krewe from other Statesiders inspired by African music is how they innovate on what they've learned instead of simply recreating tradition. Toubab Krewe carves out a new trail honoring the African originators they admire by making something alive and contemporary. Press Quotes: "a futuristic, psychedelic, neo-griot frenzy." - Village Voice "a new standard for fusions of rock n' roll and West African music." - Afropop Worldwide "Their music avoids cliché with authentic extrapolations of traditional Manding beats, percussion, and jam-band flare." - The New Yorker "...expertly meshed surf guitar with Malian rhythmic patterns, a Dick Dale moves-to-Timbuktu experiment in Afro-California fusion." - The Boston Herald "Toubab Krewe has such a visceral, ear-yanking quality that in the band's capable hands you just might find your definitions of what is/is not rock n' roll and worldbeat being completely rewritten. This is the sound of liberation." - Blurt "one of the most innovative voices in music today." - Honest Tune
