About
The Iron Mountain Tramway, a Poma gondola installed to shuttle guests up to 7,100 feet above sea level, delivers visitors to America’s only mountaintop amusement park in Glenwood Springs. Steve and Jeanne Beckley transformed the nearly forgotten Fairy Caves into a public attraction after gaining access in 1992, officially opening as Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park by Memorial Day weekend in 1999. The park’s layout forces a journey through claustrophobic passages like Jam Crack before emerging into The Barn, a vast chamber with fiery red walls. Above ground, the Alpine Coaster, installed in 2005, offers sweeping canyon views alongside other thrill rides. Seasonal transformations keep the park active year-round: spring brings milder weather and smaller crowds, summer delivers peak excitement with all attractions in full swing, fall features the festive Octoberfest celebration with themed events and decorations, and winter sparkles with holiday lights, Santa visits, and live entertainment. The mountaintop location provides a unique backdrop for these experiences, combining Western history with modern amusement park energy.
