Ouray Ice Park

Over 150 named ice and mixed climbs span nearly two miles of the Uncompahgre Gorge at the Ouray Ice Park, a human-made climbing destination built directly into the natural rock walls within walking distance of downtown Ouray. Operated by the nonprofit Ouray Ice Park, Inc. in partnership with the City of Ouray and various landowners, the park provides a free, public venue for recreational climbers from around the world. The site features guided tours and gear rentals for those needing assistance, with access governed by seasonal hours that grant early entry to members starting at 7:00 am on weekends and 7:30 am on weekdays. The facility remains open through the winter season, closing for the year on March 1st, 2026, before shutting down entirely the following day. Membership fees support the essential operational costs of farming ice, maintaining infrastructure, and keeping the gates open for the climbing community.
