Aspen High School girls soccer player Spencer Irvin controlled the ball against Basalt — her team's 2-2 draw a highlight of the intense competition. The Skiers are now 3-2-3 overall, with a 1-1-2 league record. Make no mistake, this team is eyeing the postseason.

The draw against Basalt was the Skiers' second game back from spring break. Prior to that, they beat Colorado Rocky Mountain School 5-0. The team's current standing — No. 23 in the CHSAA selection and seeding index, puts them in a decent position for the state tournament. The index largely determines postseason seeding, and in Class 3A, 32 teams will make the cut.

Aspen's next game is on Tuesday night in Rifle. The team will face a new challenge on the road, but for now, they're focused on their current record. The Skiers have shown promise, and their performance against Basalt was strong. The Longhorns, on the other hand, are 3-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the league.

Roaring Fork's 10-0 win against Moffat County on Friday pushed them to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the league. The Rams, meanwhile, are headed to Delta. These teams will face off in the coming weeks; Roaring Fork and Basalt have a meeting scheduled for April 16 in Carbondale.

The CHSAA selection and seeding index has Roaring Fork at No. 27 and Basalt at No. 34. These rankings will continue to shift as the teams play out their schedules. For the Skiers, the goal is clear: make it to the postseason. With 32 teams in the state tournament, the competition will be fierce. The Skiers' coach has a tough road ahead, navigating the team through the remainder of the season. The team's performance will depend on their ability to work together and execute their strategy. As the postseason approaches, the stakes will only get higher.

Aspen High School girls soccer players like Spencer Irvin and Siri Bassion have shown their skills on the field. The team's celebration after scoring against Basalt was a moment of pure joy, a glimpse into the camaraderie and dedication that drives these athletes. The Skiers are ready for the challenge, but they know it won't be easy. Read that again. 32 teams will make the cut for the state tournament. The competition will be fierce, and only the strongest teams will make it through. The team will need to stay focused, keep pushing themselves to be better. That's what it will take to make it to the state tournament.

In the end, it's not just about winning or losing; it's about the journey these teams take to get there. Locals will be watching, cheering on their teams as they battle for a spot in the state tournament. The short version? This season is going to be intense.

Aspen's next game is worth watching - the team's performance on the road will be a crucial test of their skills. The community around here won't want to miss it, as the teams clash in the final stretch of the season.
