$1,000 is on the line — that's what the winner of Aspen Meadows Resort's inaugural Battle of the Bartenders event will take home. The competition goes down on the patio of the West End Social, 845 Meadows Road, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 20. Top local bartenders will face off in a high-energy showdown, with judges and crowd reactions deciding the winner.

Aspen Vodka, Socorro Tequila, Jalisco Liqueur, and Stranahan's Whiskey are partnering with the resort for the event. Hooch Craft Cocktail Bartender Zachary Snyder — a 15-year veteran with multiple competition wins under his belt, is looking forward to the challenge. "I like competitions because it's a chance to do something you don't normally get to do in the beverage industry," Snyder says. He notes that a bartending competition is different from a cocktail competition; bartenders won't know what they're walking into, and will have to think on their feet.

The competition will consist of three rounds. The first round requires bartenders to create a cocktail using Socorro Tequila as the spirit base. The second round is a speed round, where bartenders will have to make a classic cocktail using Stranahan's Whiskey - with a twist. They won't know what cocktail they're making, or what ingredients they'll have to work with, until the day of the event. "You have to be able to understand what that drink is and be able to produce that cocktail as quickly and efficiently as possible," says Matty Whitenton, the beverage manager overseeing the event at the resort.

The final round gives bartenders a chance to get creative, with a create-your-own cocktail challenge using Aspen Vodka. Whitenton is looking for bartenders who can think outside the box and deliver a high-quality drink. "I like to expand the way people think and the way people get to have an experience," he says. With Aspen's well-traveled clientele, the pressure is on to deliver.

PARC Aspen Bartender Rayne Mullen, an Aspen Highlands resident, is also competing. She's excited to meet other bartenders and learn from them, and to show off her skills. "I love it. I think it's not only being able to make creative cocktails, but being able to meet other bartenders around here," Mullen says. For her, bartending is a dream come true; she's been inspired by the passion and creativity of other bartenders since she was a teenager.

The event is free and open to the public - and spectators can expect a high-energy atmosphere, with live music and food available for purchase. Make no mistake, this is a competition that will put the valley's top bartenders to the test. The short version: if you're looking for a fun afternoon out, with great drinks and even better company, the Battle of the Bartenders is the place to be. Read that again. $1,000 is on the line, and these bartenders are ready to put it all on the table.

As the event approaches, the winner will have to bring their A-game. With a focus on creative and technical skills, the judges will be looking for bartenders who can deliver a perfect drink, every time. Worth watching: how the bartenders handle the pressure of the speed round, and what kind of creative concoctions they come up with in the final round. The community is rallying behind the event, with many locals excited to see the valley's top bartenders in action. As for the bartenders themselves, they're ready to shake, stir, and pour their way to the top.

The event is a first for the Aspen Meadows Resort, and its future is uncertain. The winner will be crowned on April 20, and they'll take home a cool $1,000. The question on everyone's mind: who will it be? The winner's name will be announced at the end of the competition, and it's sure to be a closely contested decision. The Aspen Meadows Resort is located at 845 Meadows Road, and the event will take place on the patio. Folks around here are excited to see what the valley's top bartenders can do, and the event is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about of the season.

The Battle of the Bartenders is more than just a competition - it's a chance for the community to come together and celebrate the art of mixology. With its focus on creative and technical skills, the event is a must-see for anyone who loves a good drink. As the big day approaches, the tension is building, and the bartenders are getting ready to put it all on the line. This will be a competition to remember, and the winner will be the one who can deliver a perfect drink, every time. The community is holding its breath, waiting to see who will be crowned the champion, and take home the $1,000 prize.
