"I'm excited to see our community come together," says a librarian at the Garfield County Libraries, as she prepares for another busy week of events. It's Monday morning, and the libraries in Parachute, Rifle, Silt, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale are gearing up for a wide range of activities. The sound of chatter and shuffling papers fills the air as patrons begin to arrive.

In Parachute, the SPARK Exploration Hour is set to start at 11:30 a.m., promising an engaging experience for kids. Not exactly a typical Monday morning, but that's what makes it interesting. Meanwhile, in Rifle, the Baby & Me Bilingual Storytime is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., catering to the town's diverse population. This will cost taxpayers nothing, as it's a free service provided by the library.

As the week progresses, the libraries host various events, including book clubs, knitting sessions, and mental health discussions. On Tuesday, the Escaping Reality Book Club takes place at 5 p.m. in Parachute, while Storytime begins at 9:30 a.m. in Silt. The New Castle library celebrates Día del Niño all day, with a storytime at 10:30 a.m. That's what community engagement looks like. The Glenwood Springs library has a Bookworm Babies session at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, followed by Mah Jongg at 1:30 p.m. Let's Chat Mental Health discussion is scheduled for 5 p.m., providing a platform for open conversation. Picture this: a room full of people sharing their experiences and supporting one another.

On Wednesday, the Parachute library hosts a storytime at 10:30 a.m. The English/Spanish Conversation Circle is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. in Rifle, promoting language exchange and cultural understanding. This matters because it helps bridge the gap between communities.

As the week comes to a close, the libraries continue to offer a variety of events. On Thursday, the Golden Years Social takes place at 1 p.m. in Silt, and the Poetry Contest and Reading is held at 5:30 p.m. in Glenwood Springs. The Carbondale library has a Get the Wiggles Out session at 10:30 a.m., because, as we all know, kids need to move.

Friday will see the Believing in Beauty Concert Tour with Mateo Sandate and the Heartstrings at 2 p.m. in Rifle, and the Lego Club at 2 p.m. in Silt. The Glenwood Springs library hosts the Your Story, Your Life event at 10 a.m., encouraging patrons to share their experiences. And that's a wrap for the week.

The sun is setting over the Western Slope, casting a warm glow over the libraries. The sound of laughter and conversation still lingers in the air, a reminder of the community that came together to learn, share, and grow. A librarian smiles, satisfied with the week's events, as she locks up the library, already looking forward to the next week's activities.
