Garfield County Libraries are hosting a variety of programs and events from March 30 to April 5, aiming to provide engaging experiences for all ages and become vibrant community hubs.

"I'm thrilled to see the variety of programs we're offering, there's really something for everyone," said a Garfield County Libraries representative, when asked about the diverse range of activities scheduled for the week of March 30 – April 5. As the community gears up for a fun-filled week, it's clear that the libraries are committed to providing engaging and educational experiences for all ages.
The question is whether these programs will attract a new crowd to the libraries. As the representative puts it, "we want to make sure our libraries are seen as vibrant community hubs, not just places to borrow books." The numbers back that up, with a wide range of activities scheduled across different locations, including Parachute, Rifle, Silt, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale.
In Parachute, for instance, the library is hosting a "SPARK: Craftable Me" session at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, followed by a "Teen Makerspace Workshop: Book Bedazzling" at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, in Rifle, the "Madness Mondays" event is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on the same day. These events cater to different age groups and interests, showcasing the efforts to be inclusive. For families, there are numerous storytime sessions, including "Toddler Storytime" and "Baby Storytime" in Carbondale, as well as "Bookworm Babies" in Glenwood Springs.
The libraries are also offering programs tailored to specific needs, such as English language classes in partnership with Colorado Mountain College, which will take place in Rifle and other locations. Additionally, there are events focused on mental health, like the "Let's Chat Mental Health" session in Glenwood Springs on Tuesday at 5 p.m. As the representative explained, "we recognize the importance of addressing mental health and providing a safe space for discussions."
Garfield County's library system has a goal to make its branches a welcoming space where people can come together, learn, and have fun - and the upcoming programs seem designed to achieve that. The representative emphasized, "our goal is to make the libraries a welcoming space where people can come together, learn, and have fun. We're excited to see the community's response to our programs and look forward to continuing to serve and support our neighbors."
