Discover the vibrant learning opportunities and community programs available at Garfield County Libraries, offering something for everyone, from storytime and STEM exploration to mental health discussions and creative activities.

As the calendar flips to the first week of April, Garfield County Libraries are gearing up to offer a diverse array of programs and activities for residents of all ages. From book clubs and crafting sessions to STEM exploration and mental health discussions, there's something for everyone at these vibrant community hubs.
For families with young children, the libraries are a treasure trove of interactive fun. Storytime sessions, tailored to specific age groups, will be held at various branches throughout the week. In Carbondale, toddlers can enjoy storytime on Tuesday mornings, while babies can get in on the action on Wednesday mornings. Meanwhile, in Glenwood Springs, Bookworm Babies will meet on Tuesday at 10 a.m., followed by Mah Jongg and a beginner knitting class later in the day. These programs not only foster a love of reading in young minds but also provide a welcoming space for parents and caregivers to connect with one another.
Teens and adults aren't left out of the fun, either. On Monday, the Parachute branch will host a Teen Makerspace Workshop, where participants can learn the art of book bedazzling. Later that evening, the Rifle branch will get in on the action with Madness Mondays at 4:30 p.m. Adults looking for some friendly competition can head to the Parachute branch on Tuesday for a game night, while those interested in exploring their creative side can join the In Stitches Knitting Club in Carbondale.
The libraries are also committed to supporting the mental health and wellness of community members. On Tuesday, the Glenwood Springs branch will host Let's Chat Mental Health at 5 p.m., providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to discuss their experiences and connect with others. Additionally, the Carbondale branch will offer English in Action: Open Hours, where non-native speakers can practice their language skills and receive support.
As the week progresses, the libraries will continue to offer a wide range of programs and activities. On Wednesday, the Aspen Science Center will lead STEM Exploration Hours at the Glenwood Springs and Carbondale branches, giving kids the opportunity to engage in hands-on science experiments and projects. The following day, the Glenwood Springs branch will host an artists' reception for the Glenwood Springs Art Guild, showcasing the work of local artists and providing a unique cultural experience for attendees.
In addition to these special events, the libraries will also offer a variety of ongoing programs and services. The Club de Bolsitas Rojas, a Spanish-language book club, will meet at several branches throughout the week, while the English/Spanish Conversation Circle will provide a space for language learners to practice their skills. The libraries will also offer meditation sessions, strength training classes for older adults, and other activities designed to support the physical and emotional well-being of community members.
As we look to the future, it's clear that Garfield County Libraries are more than just repositories of books – they're vibrant community hubs that offer something for everyone. Whether you're a parent looking for activities to engage your children, a teen seeking creative outlets, or an adult interested in learning and personal growth, the libraries are an invaluable resource.
