Mesa County Sheriff Books Five Over Weekend Violent Incidents

Grand Mesa —"Unwanted sexual contact." That is how the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office described the incident that led to a 38-year-old Mack man’s arrest at 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

Jiayi Liu was booked for third-degree assault, domestic violence, and unlawful sexual contact without consent. The call came in on the 1500 block of 10 Road. Liu allegedly physically assaulted another resident of the house before making that contact. He is now in custody at the Mesa County Detention Facility.

Liu was one of five people MCSO arrested over the weekend. The other four involve theft, harassment, and a protection order violation.

The most complex of the bunch happened Friday morning on Rimrock Drive. Deputies were notified around 9:40 a.m. that a stolen credit card was used at a business on the 2500 block of Rimrock Drive. The card had been lifted from a vehicle on the 500 block of Colonia Drive earlier that day.

Christian Russell, 24, was the man in the footage. Deputies found his truck on the 2100 block of Saguaro Road. He was in possession of the stolen cards when they took him into custody.

The charges are a laundry list: first-degree criminal auto trespass with intent to commit crime, theft from a vehicle (less than $300), fraud for identity theft, theft in the range of $2,000 to $5,000, and unauthorized use of a financial transaction device. That last charge carries the weight of the case. He spent enough to trigger the higher tier, but not enough for the top bracket.

Russell is a Grand Junction man. The spending happened at nearby stores. The theft started in a car on Colonia Drive. It ended in a jail cell.

In Clifton, the weekend brought two separate incidents involving domestic violence and harassment.

Fransisca Dores, 46, was arrested around 2:40 p.m. Saturday on the 3200 block of West Willow Drive. She arrived at a home, banged on the door, and threatened the resident inside. When asked to leave, she allegedly assaulted them. She also damaged their car before walking away.

Dores faces charges for harassment, criminal mischief between $300 and $1,000, and domestic violence. The property damage is the only hard number attached to her arrest.

Everett Hill, 36, was arrested on the Riverfront Trail near 29 3/4 Road in Clifton. He threw an object at a woman and attempted to assault her. He was verbally combative with deputies, according to MCSO.

Hill was found with drug paraphernalia in his possession. He is charged with harassment for following a person in a public place, domestic violence, violation of a protection order, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The protection order is the key detail here. It means this wasn’t his first run-in with that specific legal boundary.

The fifth arrest happened around 3:40 in De Beque. A woman was accused of assault. The report cuts off before naming her or detailing the specific charges, but she is part of the weekend’s tally.

Five arrests. One county. A mix of financial theft, physical violence, and property damage. The locations span from the Rimrock corridor in Grand Junction to the rural roads of Mack and Clifton.

MCSO highlighted these arrests as part of their weekend activity log. They did not specify if any of the victims filed additional civil claims or if the stolen credit card funds were recovered.
