Trump Administration Withholds Transgender Care at Children’s Hospital of Colorado

Doctors at Children’s Hospital of Colorado are withholding proven transgender care due to political pressure from the Trump Administration, prioritizing the MAGA base over patient health and science.

The doctors at Children’s Hospital of Colorado are withholding care. Not because the science changed. Not because the patients got worse. Because the Trump Administration decided to weaponize cruelty and left them holding the bag.

There are no winners here. Only hurt. Pain. Suffering. That is the point.

Donald Trump knew exactly what he was doing when he returned to the White House. He traded on unfounded fears about men in restrooms and unsubstantiated conspiracy theories about schools performing surgeries without parental permission. He attacked a vulnerable community that MAGA neither understood nor wanted to understand. He used them to secure votes in Midwestern states and among minority groups after Kamala Harris failed to find a powerful response.

Now, the policy has filtered down to the hospital floor.

The administration targeted transgender members of the community in every aspect of life. The dangers posed to targets mattered little. In fact, many in the base seem to take gleeful pleasure in the distress they caused. They see every action as justified. Righteous.

Families are pleading. Doctors are watching. Nobody is happy.

For decades, leading hospitals followed proven science. Study after study demonstrated that gender-affirming care improved lives. It saved them. It reduced anxiety. It cut depression. It lowered suicidal ideation. This is particularly true when care is provided early. Being a teenager is hard for everyone. It is harder for people who feel trapped in the wrong body. The longer that goes untreated, the greater the risk for mental health breakdowns.

The healthcare workers know this. They have spent years, sometimes decades, working with families. They treat each individual methodically. It is a collaborative effort. It is a calling.

It is exactly the kind of process the MAGA and MAHA world claims to want. They denounce it only when it is for something they personally detest.

Now, those same workers have been forced to withhold care. They are stuck in the middle of a political culture war that has nothing to do with medicine and everything to do with power.

The short version: The Trump Administration doesn’t care about the pleas from families and children. They care about the base. They care about the narrative. They care about proving that the other side is wrong, even if it costs a child their life.

    Read that again.

The doctors aren’t refusing treatment because they don’t believe in the science. They are refusing because the political pressure has become impossible to ignore. The hospitals are bleeding out. The families are waiting. And the administration is sitting pretty in Washington, counting its votes.

This isn’t just about Colorado. It’s about what happens when you take a complex medical issue and turn it into a blunt instrument for political gain. You get an impossible choice. Do you follow the science and risk the political fallout? Or do you follow the politics and risk the patients?

The answer is already written. The doctors are following the politics.

The result is a community in limbo. Parents are watching their kids struggle. Doctors are watching the parents. And the federal government is watching everyone else, waiting for the next crisis to exploit.

There is no neat bow on this. No it remains to be seen. The cruelty is active. It is ongoing. It is designed to hurt.

And the worst part? The base loves it.
