Filling the five St. Mary’s Pools at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) is now underway, marking another major construction milestone as the facility moves closer to opening. Work began the week of July 6, and crews are expected to fill one pool each week over the next five weeks.
Originally envisioned as a three-pool facility during CRC efforts in 2022, the project expanded through a successful partnership with Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital and a $1 million grant from the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). The five pools are named the St. Mary's Pools in recognition of St. Mary's Regional Hospital's partnership with the City as the official health partner of the CRC.
With the additional funding, combined with bond proceeds approved by voters in 2023 and supported by a 0.14% sales tax, the CRC will feature a cool-water six-lane lap pool, a cool-water plunge pool, a warm-water leisure pool, a warm-water zero-depth entry pool, and a warm-water wellness pool. Each pool is equipped with its own filtration system and boiler, allowing it to operate independently and maintain optimal water temperatures for its intended use.
With new technology, the state-of-the-art equipment being installed is more energy efficient and conserves more water during daily operations than older pool equipment. The pools will filter and recycle their own water, limiting the amount of water added to the pools in the future.
The CRC will provide expanded recreational opportunities, fitness amenities, youth and adult programming, and gathering spaces designed to serve individuals and families of all ages.
Memberships are available at the CRC Memberships Sales Trailer located near the construction site. Directional signage along the construction fencing guides visitors to the trailer, which is located on the southeast side of the CRC parking lot. The trailer is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
Membership pricing and additional information about the Community Recreation Center are available at gjpr.org/crc. A grand opening event at the CRC is anticipated this fall.
