Grand Junction, CO – On July 28, 2026, at approximately 11 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to East Middle School located at 830 Gunnison Avenue for a report of a burglary that occurred overnight.
The reporting party advised 911 dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center that the building had been broken into and vandalized. Through investigation, officers discovered that individuals forced entry into the school, vandalized the interior of the school with fire extinguishers, and spray-painted an exterior wall.
Surveillance footage captured four individuals vandalizing the property. Officers were able to identify the four suspects and warrants were issued for their arrests.
On the morning of July 29, 2026, officers contacted all four suspects and took them into custody.
18-year-old Jayden Cordova was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on charges of Second-Degree Burglary, Criminal Mischief, First-Degree Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Obstruction of a Peace Officer.
Three 16-year-old juveniles were arrested and charged with Second Degree Burglary and Criminal Mischief. One of the juveniles was also charged with Theft for stealing a baseball bat from the school.
