Durango, CO: **United Airlines will add seasonal winter nonstop service between George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas, and Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) in late 2026. United has offered summer seasonal service between Houston and Durango for multiple years before adding the upcoming winter service dates.
United will operate its winter seasonal DRO-IAH service with one daily flight on Wednesdays and Saturdays between Dec. 19, 2026 and March 27, 2027, utilizing a 70-seat Embraer E-175 aircraft.
"We are excited to see United Airlines continue to grow their presence at DRO with nonstop seasonal service to Houston this upcoming winter,” said Aviation Director Tony Vicari. “Strong demand exists between the Four Corners region and Southeast Texas, and United Airlines is responding to travelers’ requests for additional nonstop destinations to and from Durango. The expansion of this route into the winter months in 2027 will provide United’s passengers with more connection options and higher overall seat capacity during the holiday and winter travel period.”
Durango-Houston service will provide local passengers with direct access to the greater Houston area, as well as connections throughout the southeastern United States and many destinations in Latin America. In addition, visitors from Southeastern Texas may take advantage of nonstop access to Durango and the greater Four Corners region during the winter recreation season.
“Expanding Houston travel during the winter seasonal period is an economic lift for our community,” said City of Durango Prosperity Officer Mike French. “Increasing air traffic outside of the busy summer visitation season aids our local businesses and further spreads out economic impact across the full calendar year. Local business and leisure travelers also gain access to another route to a core winter destination market in Houston.”
The Houston nonstop winter service further enhances the diversity of the route network available to over 560,000 travelers who utilize the Durango-La Plata County Airport annually.
“We are thrilled to expand our service in Durango with new seasonal service from Houston,” said Managing Director of Domestic Network Planning at United, Mark Weithofer. “From ski trips to holiday visits with family and friends – this brings our customers access to explore Durango this winter while also connecting the Durango community directly to United’s hub in Houston and one-stop connections through Houston to destinations across the U.S. and around the world.”
With service to United’s hub in Houston – the nation’s 15th busiest airport and where United is the largest airline with 450+ daily departures – passengers using DRO will have expanded access to domestic and international connections.
In addition to seasonal nonstop Houston service, United Airlines continues to operate up to six daily flights between Durango and Denver International Airport (DEN) on a year-round basis.
