About

Adventures in Chossland is a multi-pitch rock climbing destination located near Ouray, Colorado, at an elevation of 8,362 feet. The site features a prominent tower accessible via Portland Road (CR16) or US Highway 550. Parking is available on the left side of the campground road and at a gate further up Portland Road for high-clearance vehicles. Climbers access the route via an old grizzly bear mining road or a steep miner's trail to the base of the tower. The climb is rated difficult and consists of three pitches, with grades ranging from 5.4 to 5.9. The route involves scrambling through trees, navigating a dihedral with pinned blocks, and following a ridge to the summit. The area is pet-friendly and offers year-round access, though winter conditions may affect the terrain. Climbers should bring approximately 13 quickdraws or alpine draws, anchor slings, a rappel device, and a single 70m rope. The total outing typically lasts four hours.
