About
The Blue Heron Marsh Trail is a short, accessible loop located within Highline Lake State Park, just west of Grand Junction in the Colorado Plateau. The trail begins on the east side of the Highline Lake dam, descends to the area below the spillway, crosses the stream, and climbs back up to the west side of the dam. It covers approximately 0.6 miles with an elevation change of 82 feet, ranging from 4,623 to 4,705 feet. The route is generally considered easy and takes about 38 minutes to complete. Hiking, biking, and leashed dogs are permitted. The trailhead is situated near the Kokopelli Trail System access point. Parking is available at the trailhead. Conditions vary by season, with potential for mud or snow.
