About
Blue Mesa Outpost is a camping and cabin facility located on US Highway 50, approximately 25 miles west of downtown Gunnison, Colorado. Situated between mile markers 131 and 132, the resort sits atop a bluff overlooking Blue Mesa Reservoir, which is Colorado's largest body of water. The site operates at an elevation of approximately 7,640 to 7,777 feet and is accessible from May through September. The facility offers both RV sites with full hookups and designated tent sites, along with cabins. Amenities include fire pits, picnic tables at each site, laundry facilities, and a bathhouse with showers. The campground is located about one mile from boat ramps and Lake Fork Marina, providing direct access to fishing on the reservoir. Parking is available for all guests. The site accepts pets and accommodates RVs up to 45 feet in length, including chase vehicles. Tent sites are restricted to designated areas and allow a maximum of four campers aged two or older, while RV sites accommodate up to six. The difficulty level is moderate, reflecting the terrain and setup requirements.
